Affected by the War?

The Swords of Iron war and the more recent Operation Rising Lion conflict with Iran have affected Israeli citizens both personally and professionally. If your life and/or work has been affected by the security situation, it’s important to be knowledgeable about rights and compensation.

Evacuation and unpaid leave

If you were evacuated from your home or work at an education institution in an area which was evacuated, you are entitled to payment for days of work missed due to the situation. If you live elsewhere in the country but were not able to work due to the war, your employer is not obligated to pay your salary for missed time. However, in the event that you were placed on unpaid leave (Chalat) for at least 10 days, you may be eligible for unemployment payments.

Property damage

If your home or the property in it was damaged by an Iranian or Houthi missile, the government will compensate you.

  • If your house is unlivable, you will be provided with alternate housing.
  • In the case of property damage, report the damage to *4954 or fill out a claim form, and the government will send experts to evaluate the damage and decide on compensation.
  • When a property you’re renting becomes unlivable due to missile damage, you can choose to end your lease and stop paying rent, or continue to pay rent and be provided with alternate housing.
  • Compensation is provided if your car was damaged by a missile.
  • If you were in the street when a missile fell and your personal belongings were damaged, you will need a police report in order to file a claim.
  • Businesses will be compensated if equipment or inventory was damaged. The amount for damaged inventory is based on cost excluding VAT.

Injury

Injured during the war? In addition to the services provided by your health plan (Kupat Cholim), you may be eligible for other treatments, such as dental work, alternative medicine and medical marijuana. If you’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, have a head injury or mental health challenge, you and your family may also receive therapy funded by the government.

Hospitalization of at least seven days allows you or your spouse to delay some payments for 145 days, including rent, gym membership, extracurriculars and afterschool programs. Child support payments cannot be delayed.

Personalized advice

Information and personal assistance regarding rights and services due to the security situation can be obtained through the Zchut Bekalut hotline at *5922 or via an online request. This assistance is provided free of charge by a nonprofit organization in collaboration with Bituach Leumi.

Whether you’ve been evacuated, injured or faced property damage, the government has systems in place to help you recover financially and personally. Make sure to report damage, check your eligibility for compensation and take advantage of the assistance available to you and your family.
